I have tried many ways to visualize my previous travels and track my footprints, to capture a reliable and relivable representation of the world I explored. To accomplish this, I need a way to gather my location data over the past decades. No other app keeps this long-standing fine-grained private data better than Photos. Below is an OpenStreetMap based heatmap visualization of location metadata parsed from my photos over 15 years from 2010-2025. The hotter the area, the more pictures taken, and likely the longer I have stayed. It is amazing to feel the throwback when revisiting those hotspots!

Central Asia, Oceania, South America, and Africa are still unexplored. To complete this digital atlas, however, I need to finish studying their histories and cultures before visiting. I will create a booklist as an introduction.
